Stamped & Decorative Concrete

You do not have to spend a fortune on natural stone. Stamped concrete gives you the look of brick, slate, or flagstone at a fraction of the price, and it lasts just as long.

The Look of Stone Without the Price of Stone

Natural stone and brick are beautiful, but they come with a high price tag for both materials and installation. Pavers have gaps that fill with dirt and weeds, and they shift over time in frost conditions. Stamped concrete gives you the same visual effect as these premium materials but in a single, solid slab that does not move, does not grow weeds, and costs considerably less.

The stamping process is done while the concrete is still in a workable state. Rubber stamp mats are pressed into the surface to create the pattern and texture you have chosen. Color is added as an integral part of the mix, as a surface hardener, or applied as a release agent during stamping to create depth and variation. The result looks remarkably similar to the material it is imitating.

We have done stamped concrete patios, driveways, walkways, pool decks, and front entryways throughout the Anchorage area. Each project gets a sealer application at the end to protect the color and surface from the elements.

Popular Patterns and Color Options

We offer a wide selection of patterns and color combinations to match your property:

  • Ashlar slate: rectangular stone pattern with natural surface variation
  • Cobblestone: rounded stone pattern ideal for driveways and pathways
  • Herringbone brick: classic diagonal brick layout
  • Flagstone: irregular organic shapes that mimic natural stone
  • Wood plank: timber-look texture for a rustic outdoor feel
  • Integral color: a single tone mixed throughout the slab
  • Two-tone release: base color plus a contrasting release agent for depth

Caring for Your Stamped Concrete

Stamped concrete is low maintenance, but it is not no maintenance. In Anchorage's climate, the sealer is your most important protection against freeze-thaw damage and color fading. We recommend resealing every 2 to 3 years depending on sun exposure and traffic.

For snow and ice removal, use a plastic shovel instead of metal to avoid scratching the surface, and choose a sand-based traction product over rock salt, which can damage the sealer and surface over time.

Stamped concrete pairs well with a variety of other projects. We can combine it with a standard concrete patio border, integrate it into a concrete driveway apron, or use it as a feature element in a larger outdoor space. Call us to walk through your options.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does stamped concrete hold up in Alaska winters?
Yes, when sealed and maintained properly. We use air-entrained mixes and apply a quality sealer to protect against freeze-thaw damage. We recommend resealing every 2 to 3 years in Alaska's climate to keep the color and surface in good condition.
How much more does stamped concrete cost than plain concrete?
Stamped concrete typically costs 20 to 50 percent more than plain brushed concrete, depending on the pattern complexity, color choices, and size of the project. It is still significantly less expensive than natural stone or pavers while delivering a comparable appearance.
Can stamped concrete be slippery?
Stamped concrete can become slippery when wet if it is sealed with a high-gloss finish. We use anti-slip additives in our sealers for exterior applications, which significantly reduces the risk while still protecting the surface and color.
